Cast Metals Institute (CMI)
CMI exists to provide the metalcasting industry for continuing, scientific and technical education. CMI is the educational arm of the American Foundrymen's Society , and was founded on the belief that foundry personnel can achieve maximum effectiveness by participating in a continuing education program such as CMI provides.

Penn State's The Metal Casting Lab supports undergraduate and graduate instruction and research. Capabilities for melting all ferrous and non-ferrous alloys in quantities of up to 300 lbs and casting using all common molding and casting processes. Includes computer modeling and data acquisition capabilities, and mechanical testing facilities, and other support facilities.
